When QR scans count and when they stay quiet
Understand the printer protection window and its limits.
Before you start
This applies to pieces handled through a QwikQuote print run.
Follow these steps
Before printer handoff, eligible QR links can be tested. A normal scan may count, so keep intentional tests separate from customer response reporting.
The quiet period starts at the earliest recorded print-package download or send to the printer. Creating a batch alone is not the trigger.
During the quiet period, the quote page can open, but the scan does not create counted scan activity, a Hot Lead, scan email or CRM delivery.
Tracking resumes when the run is marked mailed if that occurs earlier, at the end of its entered drop date, or after the four-day handoff fallback when no drop date is set.
A deliberate appointment request is handled separately and can appear even when the initial scan was filtered.
You can distinguish a suppressed printer check from a genuine response that should be investigated.
If something looks wrong
- The page opens but there is no Hot Lead? Check the quiet period, test conditions and bot filtering before reporting a broken code.
- The run’s timing is wrong? Give support the run reference rather than repeatedly scanning.

Before and after handoff
For print-run pieces, the QR quiet period begins when the package is first downloaded or sent to the printer. Creating a batch alone does not start it.

Tracking resumes on Mark as mailed if earlier, at the end of the recorded drop date, or after four days from handoff when no drop date is set.
Follow up real responses
Open Hot leads for recent responses and appointment requests. Read the request details before calling. A scan alone does not tell you who scanned or supply their phone number.
